Beambridgeinn

About Us

Set in the parish of Sampford Arundel, 1.5 miles south of Wellington town there has been a public house at the Beambridge since 1832.  Originally a traditional coaching inn, the business and building has grown extensively over the last 200 years, masking its origins and age.

The area, “Beambridge” holds a claim to fame in railway history as a place for the shortest serving railway station which was built a few yards from the pub and opened on the 1st May 1843 for exactly one year, whilst the Whiteball tunnel was built a mile or so up the line when the South West line was extended to Exeter.

The Beambridge is ideally located to explore the beautiful landscapes that Somerset and Devon offer as it is set back from the A38 just 3 miles from both J26 & J27 of the M5.  Nearby there are stunning views, walks and cycling routes through the Blackdown and Quantock Hills and a little further afield the Dartmoor & Exmoor National parks are easily accessed.  If you’re more of a beach babe and crave the lapping sounds of the English coastline then the Somerset and Devon coastlines can be explored within a 30-minute drive.

Our Story

The Beambridge has been family operated since 2009 with the Holmes Family bringing over 50 years of experience in the hospitality industry.  They combine a warm, passionate and friendly “Mine Host” approach to running the inn, whilst delivering wholesome friendly prepared food combined with cordial, professional service delivered by the fantastic team of 20.

Maintaining it’s traditional heritage as an Inn, the Beambridge boasts 8 well appointed, en-suite rooms, an open plan bar and restaurant which can seat up to 80 people, with its now famous carvery being a popular draw for its traditional British menu with a modern twist.

The Beambridge also has a large events room, The Arundel Room, licenced for wedding ceremonies and formal wedding receptions for up to 100 people. Other than weddings the room has an eclectic client and events base, hosting events such as small conference and breakfast meetings, monthly bingo club, monthly quiz night, funeral wakes and birthday and anniversary celebrations.

Whatever your reason for visiting you are assured of a warm welcome and the owners, Craig and Karen Holmes and their team look forward to welcoming you to the Beambridge very soon.
